Dry time; rainy time :-)
Mornings like this make me want to write here… I have always adored this rainy, gray and quiet kind of mood, my thoughts flowing freely, only sometimes interrupted by the sounds of raindrops and then the sleepy cars rushing to catch the green light on the corner, ripping through the puddles of water on the sides of the street…
Most of all I like to sit near my window and breathe in the dampness of the soil in the mini-garden in front of the house. It is invigorating, especially when mixed with the scent of french vanilla coffee, freshly brewed and ready for me to pour into a glass of milk - for some sort of latte a la Ilina.
I have not shot anything recently - with the exception of a commissioned shoot I will soon post about on Flickr. Things will change next month; I am planning a long trip including Bulgaria-home, Bulgaria-seaside, Belgium and Italy. Photography will be my main focus and I am sure will produce plenty of material. I am not much of a travel photographer, but my mom always pushes and inspires me creatively (except when she insists that I photograph the sunsets… but I oblige anyway, and then I am superglad because I end up using them in images like this one).
So, good things are coming - and hopefully with them the end to my artistically dry period… With so many dreams to look forward to sometimes it is easy to forget where we stand. But I guess all that matters is that we keep going.
Here I leave you with a funny little picture, makes me laugh every time I see it. Featuring my eye-shut-highness :) and of course charming Nick Counts from Flickr. He came for a day-long visit to NYC a month (or two) ago - and I had the greatest pleasure of meeting him in person:

Ilina!
hah it’s so awesome that you updated this and possibly even more awesome that you put that picture here. haha. :) It makes me really happy. Oh and the pleasure was surely all mine. :D
I know exactly what you mean about those days though… it was like that yesterday here. Ugh, but it’s good because it made me concentrate on my essay rather than go outside.
Your vacation sounds so fantastic! I’m so excited for you and a tiny bit jealous. So do take lots of pictures and do post lots of them, if not on flickr then here or somewhere.

Ilina, I just read your interview on lense.fr it’s great! :) love what you said about commercial art and upsetting small circles of starving arrogant artists.. hehe

@ExtaZ - thanks, I will try!!!
@ Nick - you bet I will :-)) Hey you can’t be too jealous - it sounded like you are about to do some exciting traveling of your own this year, eh?
@Darren - hehe, thanks, glad you enjoyed! It is tempting sometimes for people in art to start taking themselves a bit too seriously..

Hi Ilina,
I first discovered your photographs on Valentines day on Flickr (your glorious ‘raining love’ photo was a featured picture) and ever since then, I’ve been checking your Flickr page to see what new marvels are in store!
I myself don’t seem to have a creative bone in my body, consequently people as talented as yourself amaze me; you create things of such beauty and passion! On a grey London afternoon, in my grey London office, you bring light and colour and brighten up my day so much.
So really I just wanted to let you know how much pleasure your photographs bring and to say thank you for making my tedious days at work more bearable.
I can’t wait to see what new wonders you’ve captured with that camera!
